Uttoxeter Preview: Dais can Return to winning ways

Dais Return has some strong form in the book and can make it two out of two at Uttoxeter with success in the 3m handicap hurdle there tonight (9.00).

The John Coombe trained gelding got back to winning ways when staying on strongly to beat Frontier Vic by six lengths over course and distance on his penultimate start off a mark of 95.

The 10-year-old then posted a really solid effort off 7lb higher last time out at Newton Abbot when keeping on to finish a 5 2/3 length third of 10 to Silent Knight.

The winner is a really progressive sort who has gone on to score again since under a 7lb penalty and is now rated 96, and in reality Dais Return faced an impossible task in trying to concede 13lb to Silent Knight.

However, the form has a really solid look to it and makes Dais Return the one they all have to beat off an unchanged mark of 102.

Got Attitude has been in good form of present and looks sure to go well in the 2m handicap chase (8.00)

The Tony Carroll trained gelding has won two of his last three starts, and scored with a bit more in hand than the winning margin suggest on the last of those when beating Nikos Extra by 2 1/2 lengths at Stratford.

Although now 7lb higher in the weights, the 11-year-old has been rated as high as 135 in the past so his current mark of 107 still looks very exploitable.

Cool Baranca has dropped to a dangerous mark and can take advantage in the 2m 4f handicap hurdle (8.30).

The mare last scored when bolting up by 14 lengths at Perth last September off a rating of 104, and after putting in a game effort to finish second under a 7lb penalty was put up to 122.

The eight-year-old’s form then not suprisingly then tailed off, but Cool Baranca’s mark has fallen as a result.

The daughter of Beat Hollow now gets into this off 105, just 1lb higher than when last successful, having ran really well to finish in the frame on her last two starts.

Those efforts suggested that Cool Baranca’s time is near, and this represents a good opportunity for the Dianne Sayer trained mare to get back in the winners’ enclosure.
