Winds weighted to go well at Wolves

All The Winds runs of a career-low mark at Wolverhampton this evening and looks value to take advantage and get back to winning ways in the 1m 4f handicap (6.45).

The Shaun Lycett trained gelding last scored over course and distance back in March 2013 when beating Illsutrious Forst going away by 2 1/2 lengths off a mark of 75.

The nine-year-old went on to finish runner-up, again over course and distance, three starts later off 77 and although he has not been in the best form of late his handicap mark has fallen as a result.

The son of Samum now gets into this off just 70, 5lb below his last success, and that entitles All The Winds to to go close in this line-up if bouncing back to form.

Another horse that has been given a big chance by the handicapper is Al’s Memory, who bids for course and distance win number two in the 7f handicap (7.45).

David Evans’ gelding last scored at the track back in November when staying on strongly to beat Living The Life by a neck off 80.

The six-year-old now runs off just 74, 6lb lower than when last successful and his lowest mark since January 2013.

It’s fair to say that the son of Red Clubs hasn’t been running well of late, but if bouncing back is weighted to run a huge race.

There has been a major market move for Global Leader in the 7f handicap (8.15), but Very First Blade is going to be a tough nut to crack and looks value to foil the plunge.

The gelding last scored over 6f at Southwell last June when beating Upper Lambourn by a neck off 49 when trained by Mark Brisbourne.

Now in the care of Cheshire handler Mick Mullineaux, the five-year-old has put together a string of solid efforts in recent weeks and gets into this off his last winning mark having been beaten just two lengths by an unexposed sort last time out at Southwell.

The pair pulled 3 1/2 lengths clear of the third to give the form a solid look, and a repeat of that effort could well be good enough to see Very First Blade register a deserved success.
