Windsor Preview: Divine Law ready to rule

Trainer Richard Hannon and jockey Richard Hughes have a tremendous record at Windsor, and Divine Law is fancied to provide them with another winner in the 1m nursery this evening (7.10).

The colt showed progressive form in three sprint maidens, before coming good on handicap debut on good-to-soft ground at Haydock when stepped up to 7f.

The son of Major Cadeaux stayed on strongly to get up close home and beat Dragline by a neck, and the way in which he finished off the contest suggested that a step up to a mile may well bring about even further improvement.

If that proves to be the case then Divine Law looks potentially well-treated off just 3lb higher, and the two-year-old’s proven ability to handle cut in the ground is a major plus.

In the opening 6f handicap (5.40), Dream Catcher looks to have plenty going for him having dropped to a career-low mark.

Trained by the in-form Henry Candy, the gelding has not scored since landing back-to-back contests on soft ground back in 2012.

One of those came over course and distance on soft ground off a rating of 65, and Dream Catcher is now running off 2lb lower having shaped as if coming back to form last time out when a staying on fourth to Panther Patrol on the all-weather surface at Lingfield.

If Dream Catcher can build on that then he is weighted to take all the beating now returned to the turf on ground which suits.
Dream Impossible can make it “dream double” by landing the 1m handicap that closes proceedings (8.10).

The David Evans trained filly opened her account in good style at Ffos Las three starts back, and posted a career-best effort last time out over course and distance when chasing home Hostile Fire.

The daughter of Iffraaj got collared in the dying strides to go down by just a neck, and the winner is a progressive sort who was completing a hat-trick.

That gives the form a solid look, and off just 3lb higher, Dream Impossible is going to be very tough to beat if turning up in the same form in whats looks a weaker contest.
