Wolverhampton Preview: Get onto the Shaw Ting

Shaw Ting has shaped with bags of promise in two maiden runs and looks to have been found a golden opportunity to open her account in the 1m contest at Wolverhampton this evening (6.50).

The Tom Dascombe trained filly looked badly in need of the experience when slowly away on debut at Warwick before keeping on under tender handling to finish a distant fourth of 12 to Terror in a 6f contest, and duly improved for the outing when stepped up to a mile last time out at Leicester.

After being held-up at the rear of the eight-runner field, the daughter of Winker Watson stayed on in good style to finish a 1 1/2 length fourth to Sagaciously.

There were some well-bred types from big stables in that field, and the race looks sure to throw-up winners.

Shaw Ting sets a good standard in this line-up on that form, and it will be disappointing if she doesn’t land the spoils.

Mazaaher has taken to the Tapeta surface like a duck to water and is strongly fancied to land the 1m 1f handicap (6.20).

The Barry Hills’ trained colt scored in good style over course and distance three starts back when staying on strongly to beat Crowdmania by a length off a mark of 71.

The son of Elandim then ran very well off 3lb higher when beaten just 1/2 a length into third behind Postscript, again over course and distance, before disappointing last time out on rain softened ground at Newbury.

Mazaaher can easily be forgiven that effort, and the return to the synthetic surface is sure to see him in a far better light.

The four-year-old looks the type who could develop into a real track specialist, and should be more than capable of winning races of his current mark of 75.

In the 1m 1f nursery (7.50), More Drama is a fascinating contender now stepped up in trip.

The Sylvester Kirk trained filly has caught the eye in her last two runs at Kempton when doing all her best work at the finish.

In the last of those over 7f, More Drama ran far better than her final finishing position suggests when sixth of 11 to Father Stone.

The daughter of Thewayyouare got squeezed out at the start and quickly found herself at the rear of the field, before making good headway two from home and staying on strongly under tender handling to be beaten just over four lengths.

It was an effort which suggested that More Drama would appreciate a stiffer stamina test, and the extra two furlongs of this contest look sure to suit.
