Wolverhampton preview: Tangramm ticks all the right boxes
David Metcalf | November 20, 2015
Tangramm scored in good style last time out and can take advantage of what looks a lenient mark to follow-up in the 1m 1f handicap on this evening’s all-weather card at Wolverhampton (18.50).
The gelding showed little in three maiden runs last year for trainer Simon Dow, but put in a much improved affort on seasonal reappearance when runner-up at Kempton on his first start for Dean Ivory.
After being slowly away, Tangramm finished with a real rattle and failed by just a short-head to overhaul Candesta.
The three-year-old then duly built on that effort to open his account in a classified contest over an extended 1m at this venue earlier in the month when beating Lions Charge by a length.
Take on Tangramm
The son of Sakhee’s Secret was well on top at the finish, and the front two pulled five lengths clear of the field.
Lions Charge has also come out and won since to give the form a solid look, and it makes Tangramm’s opening handicap mark of 59 look very exploitable.
The step up in trip also looks sure to suit, and Tangramm remains unexposed and open to further progress after just five starts.
Jaiyana has the jets to score
In the 6f maiden (16.45), Jaiyana looks to have been found a glorious opportunity to open her account.
The James Tate trained filly has posted a series of solid efforts of late and comes into the contest on the back of a cracking second in a handicap at Chelmsford three days ago.
Jaiyana looked all over the winner until jockey Luke Morris dropped the reins 100 yards out, and rallied strongly once headed to go down by just a nose to Triple Dream.
The daughter of Dansili was desperately unlucky, but it was an effort which suggested Jaiyana’s time was near and she is going to be very tough to beat now pittched back into low grade maiden company.
