#LoveRacing ambassador Chris Hughes heads to spa day at the stables
The incredible transformation from TV star to fully fledged jockey continues for Chris Hughes with his latest visit to Jackdaws Castle.
Watch our video as Coral’s #LoveRacing ambassador Chris discovers just what it takes to keep a race horse in top condition:
The Love Island star, who less than two months ago announced with the help of bookmakers Coral that he would compete in the Ride of their Lives charity race at York Racecourse in June, toured the facilities.
Chris visited the indoor school, the equine swimming pool and solarium to see that when it comes to rest and recovery, the health of the horses is taken just as seriously as that of the riders.
Just like a horsey health spa, the swimming pool helps the horses build stamina, improve endurance and helps rehabilitation, while the solarium helps with circulation and relaxes tense muscles and joints.
Chris Hughes says: “I’m not riding today so I’ve had a look around the yard to see what it takes to keep the horses in top racing condition. They swim up to eight laps in the pool and get to relax in the solarium. If I wasn’t out riding, you’d probably find me here!”
Coral PR Director Simon Clare says: “The facility provides training for yearlings, rehabilitation for horses coming back from injuries and sometimes it’s just a change of scenery. It’s a bit like a retreat for the horses.”
