NFL: Dolphins, 49ers and Saints make for a terrific TV treble
With the NFL season entering Week 4, Coral continue to give great offers to their customers. Here we tell you why you should consider backing individual odds-on favourites Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints all to win at an enhanced 11/4 price.
Miami Dolphins at Oakland Raiders
The Raiders host three-and-a-half point favourites the Dolphins in the first of three NFL games to be played at Wembley this year.
This long-haul trip to London will do Oakland no favours. Ordinarily this would have been a home game, against a side travelling coast-to-coast across the USA to face them. However, it will now be held on neutral turf, with both sides making the journey across the Atlantic.
Miami have endured struggles in recent weeks, but still have a good level of talent in their squad as evidenced by their opening day win over New England.
Losing star running back Knowshon Moreno to an elbow injury in week 2 was a significant blow, but Lamar Miller has stepped up in his absence. Miller rushed for 108 yards last weekend, and is 11/10 to score a touchdown anytime at Wembley.
The Raiders have yet to win this season, and have now lost nine in a row dating back to last season. It’s hard to see them snapping that losing streak this Sunday, especially without home-field advantage to push them on. Punters can get behind Miami to bounce back from defeats in their last two games and triumph in London.
Philadelphia Eagles at San Francisco 49ers
The Eagles are one of three remaining undefeated teams in the NFL, but they are doing it the hard way. Philadelphia are the first team in NFL history to win their first three games despite having been behind by at least 10 points in each one.
Punters might feel that if the Eagles continue to make things difficult for themselves in games, it is going to catch up to them at some point. A slow start at Levi’s Stadium this weekend could well be their undoing.
For the 49ers, a matchup at home against an Eagles side that is surrendering an average of 26 points per game, looks to be an excellent opportunity for them to bounce back from defeats in their last two games.
San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick will fancy his chances of exploiting an Eagles pass defense that is ranked 28th out of 32 teams in the league. He can call upon a strong supporting cast, including tight end Vernon Davis and wide receivers Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin (11/8 to score anytime).
Punters can feel good about backing the five-point favourites 49ers to end Philadelphia’s winning run in Week 4.
New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys
In three visits to Dallas, Saints quarterback Drew Brees is undefeated. Brees put in a magnificent four-touchdown performance to triumph at Cowboys Stadium last season in the previous meeting between these two sides.
A repeat of that kind of performance may not be out of the question. It is not a great time for the Cowboys defense to be facing up to the prospect of trying to stop Brees, with the secondary disappointing both on the field, and off it.
Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne struggled for form last Sunday against the Rams, and then stormed out of practice on Tuesday after learning that poor performances had cost him his place in the starting lineup for this weekend’s game against New Orleans.
Orlando Scandrick comes into the team after serving a two-game suspension, and he will have his hands full trying to stop Saints wideout Brandin Cooks (13/10 to score anytime).
The Cowboys’ best form of defense this season might be their offense, but there is a problem with that. Quarterback Tony Romo has not looked the same since undergoing back surgery in the offseason, and was forced to miss practise this week after experiencing tightness in his back.
Punter should feel confident therefore that New Orleans can win their second straight game.
