Undefeated Bengals and Cardinals underdogs in NFL Week 5 betting
The 1-3 New Orleans Saints (1/5 odds-on money line) will be desperate to salvage their season when they take on the 1-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7/2) as 10-point favourites in the NFL betting at Coral.
New Orleans have been a major betting disappointment in the early weeks of the 2014 NFL campaign, going 0-3 ATS and SU on the road, all games in which they were pegged as betting favourites.
But a return to the friendly confines of the Superdome may be just what the team needs. The Saints are a perfect 9-0 SU, 8-0-1 ATS, in their last nine at home, and are undefeated SU in their last five against the Bucs.
The 2-2 Pittsburgh Steelers (5/13 money line) will look to bounce back from last week’s disappointing 27-24 loss to the Buccaneers when they visit the 0-4 Jacksonville Jaguars (11/5) as 6-point favourites in American football betting at Coral.
Pittsburgh entered the game against the Bucs as 7-point favourites, but their sloppy play allowed Tampa to twice overcome seven-point deficits for the win. The Steelers will have full opportunity work out their game against a terrible Jaguars team that has allowed 38 points per game so far this season.
The 3-0 Cincinnati Bengals (10/11 money line) return to action after a bye last week, taking on the struggling New England Patriots (also 10/11) as slim 1-point road favourites in NFL wagering at Coral.
Cincy enter the weekend as just one of two undefeated teams remaining in the NFL, along with the 3-0 Arizona Cardinals (11/4 money line).
The 2-2 Patriots are coming off a devastating 41-14 loss to Kansas City. While New England have been strong at home of late, winners of their last 10 SU, they have covered the spread just once this season, with concerns quietly being raised about QB Tom Brady’s weak play, with just four TDs so far on the season.
Arizona will have their hands full against the 2-1 Denver Broncos, whom the oddsmakers at Coral peg as 7.5-point favourites. That is a big spread favouring a Broncos team that has averaged just 25 points per game against a Cardinals squad that has allowed just 15 points per game while allowing only 71.7 yards per game.
In other NFL Week 5 betting action, the 3-1 Philadelphia Eagles will try to return to their winning ways when they take on the lowly St. Louis Rams as 7-point home favourites.
The resurgent Indianapolis Colts, led by the NFL’s leading passer Andrew Luck, return home to take on the 3-1 Baltimore Ravens as 3.5-point favourites. Meanwhile, the 3-1 San Diego Chargers will be gunning for their fourth straight win SU, and seventh straight ATS, when they welcome the struggling New York Jets as 6.5-point betting favourites.
