London hosts three clashes in October
The gridiron action returns on 6th September, with Atlanta Falcons visiting Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL 2018 curtain-raiser.
And fans on these shores won’t have to wait too much longer for their chance to see some live NFL action.
Three cracking London-based clashes have been announced for October, and the Coral News Team have all the info…
Seattle Seahawks @ Oakland Raiders – 14th October
The Raiders are no strangers to International Series games, having played NFL fixtures at both Wembley and Mexico’s Azteca Stadium since 2014. As for the Seahawks, they’ve never played a competitive game outside the USA.
This one will take place at Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium. While the finishing touches are still being put on the arena, the planned capacity is 62,062.
Everything points to this being an exciting, close run game. The past eight meetings have seen four wins apiece – including a thrilling 30-24 triumph for the Seahawks in 2014.
Tennessee Titans @ Los Angeles Chargers – 21st October
As one of the NFL’s less glamorous clubs, it’s perhaps surprising to see the Titans get the Wembley treatment. However, last season’s 9-7 finish suggests the Florida outfit are on the up.
The Chargers played at Wembley in October 2008 under their old San Diego guise. Anything similar to their previous visit will certainly please the neutral – the Chargers were edged out 37-32 in the highest-scoring NFL game ever held outside the USA.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Jacksonville Jaguars – 26th October
Wembley is basically a second home for the Jags. They’re playing at the stadium for the sixth season in succession. And it’s begun to really suit them.
After losing on the first two visits, the Jags have now won three years in succession. Last year’s 44-7 rout of Baltimore Ravens was the second-biggest margin of victory at any Wembley game.
They could well have the edge against the first-timers from Philly.
