Coral’s movie specials market has been hit by a flurry of bets as punters try to get their money in on the ever-changing odds.

After cleaning up at the recent British Academy Film Awards, rising star Eddie Redmayne is now favourite to scoop the coveted Best Actor award, with odds of 2/7.

Smash hit biopic The Theory of Everything, detailing the life and times of physicist Stephen Hawking, was awarded Best British Film at this year’s BAFTAs. For punters who like a riskier bet, James Marsh’s blockbuster has an outside chance as Best Picture winner, with odds of 100/1.

It will face stiff competition from black comedy Birdman, which is currently set to smash it, with nominations in the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actor categories. The latter will surely go to J K Simmons however, whose intense performance in Whiplash earned him a BAFTA in early February.

The more daring bettor will also place his or her pennies on Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, which has 50/1 odds of winning Best Picture, and odds of 66/1 for Best Director. After winning five awards at the BAFTAs, this charming comedy could prove a lucrative choice for the keen Oscars bettor.

No Oscars night is complete without its run of memorable moments, whether it’s Jennifer Lawrence falling over or Neil Patrick Harris’ Broadway musical numbers.

With this in mind, Coral is offering its customers their very own Oscars bingo card – will somebody swear on stage? Or perhaps one winner’s speech will go on a little too
