Bobby Beale named favourite as Lucy Beale’s killer is revealed tonight
EastEnders has had viewers on the edge of their seats since Lucy’s death last April, sparking one of the biggest whodunnits since the infamous Who Shot Phil? storyline in 2001.
Now, with the mystery set to come to a climax tonight, Coral has teamed up with the Metro to offer its customers a free £20 bet*. New customers who deposit just £5 will be rewarded with £20 to put on their prime suspect, whether it’s everything on 3/1 favourite Bobby Beale or an outside chance on Max Branning.
Viewers have been changing their minds constantly as the BBC continues to throw us off with red herrings. The recent National Television Awards saw Dermot O’Leary revealing the last sound that Lucy heard – an eerie playback of her jewellery box, leading to a flurry of bets on Abi Branning.
The teenager soon became firm favourite after a suspected gaffe was made during Tuesday night’s live episode. Jake Wood, who plays Abi’s father Max, was quoted as “fluffing” his lines when he told on-screen daughter Abi: “She knows whether you killed Lucy.”
However, fans were left confused as to whether he said “who” or “you,” while Wood insisted the only error he had made was to add the word “whether.”
Could this be just another red herring from the BBC? Last night’s episode speculated that Lucy died in her own house, leading top tipsters to name her younger brother Bobby as favourite. This is Soapland, however, and nothing is guaranteed. Coral is currently offering 25/1 odds of death from suicide or natural causes – perfect for the more daring bettor.
With a free £20 bet from Coral, viewers would be best advised to expect the unexpected.
