Coral sign 12-month sponsorship deal with WBA Champion Jamie McDonnell

Coral are proud to announce that a 12-month sponsorship deal has been agreed with WBA bantamweight champion Jamie McDonnell.

“‎We are delighted to be sponsoring Jamie for the next 12 months, which we believe will be a successful partnership. Jamie has established himself as a world champion in his respective weight division and we expect him to be involved in the some big fights over the next couple of years,” said Coral PR Manager, John Hill.

The Doncaster-born fighter is a former IBF world champion, and has also impressively held European, Commonwealth and British bantamweight titles during his successful boxing career to date.

During last year’s British mega-fight between Carl Froch and George Groves, McDonnell fought Tamadang Da Rachawat as part of an exciting undercard in front of a super sell-out Wembley crowd of 80k fighting fans.

McDonnell superbly stormed to a TKO victory in that bout, catching his Thai opponent with a thunderous left hook in the 10th round and, despite managing to get to his feet, Rachawat was in no state to continue after appearing to stumble while trying to stand up.

The 28-year-old orthodox bruiser boasts an imposing professional fighting record, having emerged victorious in 23 of his total 26 bouts, and securing a win by knockout on 10 occasions.

Since his maiden professional ring outing in 2005, the prolific puncher has gone on to make a successful career for himself so far, and he will be aiming for further glory this coming May when he unifies the WBO and WBA bantamweight titles with the undefeated Tomoki Kameda.

In a bout that will take place in Texas on May 9th, during the prime-time in UK television coverage, McDonnell will be confident of toppling his Japanese opponent on what is sure to be another massive night for British boxing.

McDonnell’s most recent ring outing came last November, when he secured a ninth-round TKO triumph over Javier Nicolas Chacon at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, and he will go in search of another sensational stoppage win against Kameda this year, a decade after his professional debut.

Coral are extremely pleased to become a sponsor of such a terrifically talented fighter, with both parties very confident of capturing even more British boxing success together over the next 12 months.
