Twitter reaction to Fury-Klitschko postponement

Tyson Fury’s awaited rematch with Wladimir Klitschko has been postponed due to the current world heavyweight champion having sustained an ankle injury during his preparations for the fight, which was initially scheduled for July 9th.

The news comes just two weeks before Fury and Klitschko were set to battle it out once again at the Manchester Arena, following the Briton’s successful night in Germany last November when he dethroned the division’s former dominant force to claim the WBA Super, WBO and IBO titles.

Following the announcement, made by Fury himself online, fans, pundits and fellow fighters have reacted on Twitter to yet another postponement. So, read on to see the online reaction from around the boxing world…

The world heavyweight champion made the announcement himself, claiming he had sustained a bad ankle injury while running…

Fury, who is 7/4 with Coral to outpoint the Ukrainian for a second successive bout, claimed he will be out of action for at least six-seven weeks and his uncle confirmed the injury with photos…

The heavyweight champion was looking in such great shape too. Shame…

Fury predictably faced an instant backlash from fans and pundits, having previously slated opponents for pulling out through injury…

Injuries do happen, though…

Klitschko will be a gutted man after putting himself through another tough training camp. The former champion is 11/4 to knockout Fury when they do eventually meet again…

Fans are already sick of having to wait for fights to take place…

A new date will be set soon following the postponement, but the venue will remain unchanged…
