Van Gerwen and Taylor highlight the night

Scotland’s Gary Anderson fittingly faces two clashes in Glasgow on Night Seven of the 2016 Premier League Darts, after he pulled out of the opening evening in Leeds due to illness.

The PDC world champion goes up against the man he beat in the Ally Pally final, Adrian Lewis, and then finishes off with an all-Scots clash with Peter Wright.

However, the match of the night will no doubt be between world number one Michael van Gerwen and all-time great Phil Taylor, who is on yet another career resurgence.

Elsewhere, another Scot Robert Thornton tackles James Wade, while Raymond van Barneveld hopes to stay ahead of Dave Chisnall in the table with just three weeks to go until Judgement Night. Michael Smith has a break, meanwhile.

Gary Anderson v Adrian Lewis

Anderson usually takes a while to settle his nerves when on the oche in his home country, but has won 7-5 the last two times he’s played in Glasgow in the Premier League. Having also defeated Lewis by that scoreline at the 2016 PDC World Championship final, he is a very tempting 15/2 shout to do so again.

The Flying Scotsman (10/11) has also beaten Jackpot (2/1) in three of their last four meetings, though has not been in the best of form in recent weeks.

A win for Anderson would put him level on points with Lewis, who is up in third in the table currently, with a match in hand.

James Wade v Robert Thornton

The Thorn (10/3) has gained just one point so far, although has played at least one match less than the rest of the field, besides compatriot Anderson, and looks unlikely to add to that as he duels with Wade (4/7 favourite) up next.

Rock bottom Thornton did win their last head-to-head back in September, but has lost five of the previous six against The Machine, who will be looking to stay in the top four.

Michael van Gerwen v Phil Taylor

The big battle of the night sees two of the best players to have played the game go up against each other, and The Power will be desperate to get one over the Green Machine in a bid to stop him adding to his trophy haul.

Taylor is still just ahead in head-to-heads with Van Gerwen (27-20), but is in danger of losing that record having lost a whopping nine of their last 10 including five this year already.

Although Mighty Mike is the odds-on favourite, his price of 8/13 is still highly enticing in the circumstances, but Taylor did recently defeat the Dutchman in a UK Open Qualifier final, so is 3/1 for victory.

Raymond van Barneveld v Dave Chisnall

2015 William Hill PDC World Championship - Day Thirteen - Alexandra Palace

Barney (7/4) made an unusually fast start this season, taking four points from his first three matches, but have ran out of breath and gained none since.

Chisnall (11/10) is surprisingly even further back on three points and has not enjoyed facing Van Barneveld so far in his career, winning just two of their last 10. A draw is a tempting result at 10/3.

Gary Anderson v Peter Wright

2015 William Hill PDC World Championship - Day Thirteen - Alexandra Palace

Anderson may be up against it in the last match of the night, despite being the 10/11 favourite and likely to have the crowd on his side.

Wright (2/1) had a terrific start to the campaign, but has lost his last two to Van Gerwen and Lewis and thus slipped out of the top four. He still has a match in hand on fourth-placed Wade and a victory here should put him back up in the play-offs.
