Coral best odds on Taylor winning 15th World Darts Championship

The 1/1 may have already been snapped up, but Coral are still offering the top industry price of 10/11 that Phil Taylor wins the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship for a 15th time.

Taylor may have been beaten by main rival Michael van Gerwen in the final of the recent Players Championship, but his form from June onwards in 2013 is indisputable.

A victory at the UK Open has been followed with further tournament triumphs at the World Matchplay, the World Grand Prix, the Championship of Darts, the Masters and the Grand Slam of Darts.

Success at Alexandra Palace would virtually give Taylor the clean sweep of all of the biggest events in the PDC sphere of the game, aside from the Premier League, where he was again beaten by Van Gerwen in the final.

Taylor’s chances of another World Darts Championship title have certainly not been hindered by the draw, as he cannot face the majority of his chief nemeses until the final.

Of the seven shortest-priced favourites in the World Darts Championship odds, Simon Whitlock is the only one positioned alongside Taylor in the upper half of the draw and these two won’t even meet until the semi finals.

Like Taylor, Adrian Lewis has tended to produce his best in this event in recent years, with victories in two of the last three renewals. However, he will have to run the ultimate gauntlet if he is to triumph for a third time.

A probable passage to a final with Taylor will see Lewis have to beat James Wade in the quarter finals and then one of Van Gerwen/Dave Chisnall/Raymond van Barneveld in the semi finals.

After Taylor in the tournament betting is Van Gerwen at 7/2, Lewis at 9/2 and then Whitlock and Wade, who can both be backed at 25/1.
