Premier League Darts Week 11: Barney and Mighty Mike meet
In the second week of Phase 2 in the Premier League, we see a number of crunch clashes including the Dutch darts duel between Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen.
High-flying Dave Chisnall’s encounter with all-time great Phil Taylor will be an intriguing encounter too, as will The Power’s match with rising star Stephen Bunting, who also faces two fixtures on the night.
Elsewhere at Aberdeen’s GE Oil & Gas Arena, Gary Anderson is back on home Scottish soil as he takes on James Wade, and Bunting’s first match of the evening is against Adrian Lewis.
Dave Chisnall v Phil Taylor
Chizzy has been in top form this Premier League, despite a brief blip midway through the competition, and finds himself up in second place and eight points ahead of fifth place, making him 13/2 fourth-favourite now to claim the title.
Chisnall (7/4 for victory with Coral) can almost certainly guarantee a play-off place with victory over form-lacking Taylor (11/10), who has lost four of his last five. He is a tempting 6/1 chance to beat The Power 7-4, as he did against the six-time champion in Week 9.
Stephen Bunting v Adrian Lewis
Bunting (9/4 for victory) is bottom of the current table after Elimination Night, but faces Lewis (5/6 odds-on favourite), who is one of just two he’s defeated this Premier League.
Jackpot, though, is two points ahead of The Bullet and, after almost dropping out of the competition in Week 9, is level on points with fourth-placed Taylor. A draw at 7/2 may be the best shout.
James Wade v Gary Anderson
This duo have taken turns winning in recent meetings, but have never drawn. Neither player is ion great form going into this match, but as Wade (3/1) has lost his last three, Anderson is the odds-on 8/13 favourite).
The Flying Scotsman will have the home crowd behind him, and is 6/1 to inflict the same 7-4 scoreline on The Machine, as he did in Week 4.
Raymond van Barneveld v Michael van Gerwen
In the crunch clash of the night, defending champion Barney (9/2) takes on compatriot and league leader Van Gerwen (odds-on 2/5 favourite).
Van Barneveld was another that struggled early on this campaign, but has gained two crucial wins over Taylor recently, as well as a season-saving draw against Anderson, and is well in contention to finish in the top four.
Mighty Mike is still unbeaten this season in the league, and is top by a point with a match in hand, but a draw at 9/2 is a tempting result.
Stephen Bunting v Phil Taylor
Rounding off the evening is between two these struggling but highly talented English duo. Taylor (odds-on 4/7 favourite) thrashed Bunting (10/3) 7-1 earlier on in the league, but The Bullet will be looking to bite back, so a draw is an enticing 4/1 price here.
