Players Championship trendwatch: nine against the field at Sawgrass
Due to it’s demanding entrance requirements the unofficial “fifth major” which is the Players Championship at the TPC at Sawgrass tends to boast one of the highest quality fields of any event in golfing calendar, but whilst that may make it seem like a doubly tricky punting conundrum, the last six winners fit three exacting trends. The picks at the prices:
Luke Donald 20/1 – Of the three trendy types in the top 10 of Coral’s Players Championship betting it’s Donald that really seems to be getting into gear with T3 and T4 finishes in two of his last three tour outings and his made the last six cuts at the Players Championship.
Stewart Cink – The American has been highly consistent all term without really catching fire, three top-25 finishes on the spin should set him up for a tilt at the title, with his PGA top-28 scoring average likely to stand him in good stead as he grinds his way around the notoriously treacherous TPC Sawgrass course.
