Hamilton to hold memory of Bianchi with him during Hungary Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton, odds-on with Coral at 2/5 to win the Hungary Grand Prix, will carry Jules Bianchi in his thoughts throughout the duration of the race in Budapest and having won at Silverstone, is looking to make it three victories in his last four outings.
“I will be carrying Jules with me in my prayers for the rest of my driving days,” Hamilton said about the French driver who tragically died after an accident that happened last year.
“I know he’d want us to race as hard as he did, and so I will.”
Hamilton who was one of many of the whole racing community to attend Bianchi’s funeral continued: “Saying goodbye to Jules was incredibly hard for everyone.
“For myself, I wish I had known him better. But from what I knew of him, he was a kind heart with a great spirit and a bright future.
“Now our sport embarks on a tough road ahead. We have been shown once more the dangers of our sport, that these should be respected and we drivers must commit ourselves to the chance that those dangers are there when we step into the car,” he added.
“We have made great progress for safety thus far and I know that governing body the FIA will continue to make steps forward to improve even further.”
The world champion narrowly tops the standings this season, to Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg who trails him by 17 points, though Hamilton is aiming for a fifth victory in Hungary.
Rosberg, meanwhile, failed to finish on the podium here last year, though is 9/4 for the win, while the 2014 winner, Daniel Ricciardo, is a respectable 12/1 for a podium place.
Sebastian Vettel, who has been a consistent podium finisher this year is odds-on at 4/9 to achieve this again, while Hamilton is evens to record the fastest lap for the second time in a row.
