Vote now for Coral sponsored Wigan Warriors Try of the Month

As Coral sponsor Super League outfit Wigan Warriors, there is a club Try of the Month competition on their official website.

Because we’re proud to appear on the Warriors’ shirts, we want our punters to have their say on who they think should receive this honour from our very own PR Manager John Hill. Check out the video below, which contains the five contenders and their crossing of the whitewash:

Here’s a brief assessment of each try in turn.

Try A – George Williams
This came in an agonising 22-20 loss at Hull KR on March 1st, but stand-off Williams went over when sent clear after a trademark Joe Burgess burst. At one stage Wigan led 20-6, but sadly succumbed to a late rally from the hosts. This does not detract from a fine team try, though.

Try B – Joe Burgess
Although this came in another loss, to current leaders Leeds Rhinos 26-14 at Headingley on March 20th, the roles from Try of the Month contender A were reversed here. Williams’ clever and precise kick took out the home defence and dropped into the grateful hands of winger Burgess.

Try C – Liam Farrell
Burgess showed real bravery here, catching and quickly offloading to Farrell, who scored under the posts. This set the Warriors on their way to a 52-10 romp against Wakefield Wildcats at the DW Stadium on March 27th.

Try D – Matty Smith
Scrum half Smith is usually more about kicking points, but got in on some try-scoring in the Leeds loss by grabbing the opener. He finished off a fine Wigan move, typified by Anthony Gelling’s gutsy run.

Try E – Anthony Gelling
Completing the Try of the Month contenders is second row/centre Gelling. This effort from the handsome home win over Wakefield includes some superb interchange passing between Smith, Ryan Hampshire and Joel Tomkins. Gelling hit a hat-trick of tries in this famous victory.

Coral make Wigan 7/1 shots to be regular Super League season winners, and 9/2 to triumph in the Grand Final.
