Weekend multi-sports acca

Frank Monkhouse | 8 April 2017

327/1 five-fold to follow this weekend

It’s a special weekend to be a sports punter. We have the Grand National, US Masters golf, Chinese Grand Prix, big-time boxing and a jam-packed football schedule, headlined by the Premier League. One sure-fire way to up the interest is with a winning bet, and you can do that right here.

Coral are betting on every match, race, swing, kick and punch, and you can join us. Click here to back your opinions, or read on as we put forward a multi-sport acca. Five selections from five different sports, with one goal – winning big. Small stakes for hefty returns is what we’re about here, with every £1 paying £327.60, although there is a National pick in there. Let’s run over the hopefuls…..

Football – Chelsea beat Bournemouth

The Blues answered their critics in fine style on Wednesday when following up a defeat to Crystal Palace with a win over Man City at Stamford Bridge. They put to bed any wild notions of a tense finish to the season thanks to a double from player of the season contender Hazard, one either side of a reply from Aguero. They now look to take a step closer to the flag when meeting Bournemouth on Saturday night. Conte’s boys won the reverse of this fixture 3-0 on Boxing Day, and go in again at 4/7.

Grand National – Highland Lodge

We’ll be having an interest on James Moffatt’s 11-year-old based on his efforts in the Becher Chase at Aintree over three-miles one-furlong last time out. He was beaten a short-head by Vieux Lion Rouge that day, but the victor is second in the betting, and we’re getting 25/1 on the narrow loser. I’ll take an each-way play on that with confidence. He led for large parts of that race, before being picked up on the line, and will be all the better for it. A big price about a solid horse, with every chance.

While Shearer maintains Man City will win the title, he recognises the fine form of Eden Hazard for Chelsea.

Boxing – Smith beat Williams

This may have flown under the radar a bit, but we have a real 50/50 tussle on our hands as Liam ‘Beefy’ Smith battles Liam Williams for the WBO super-welterweight world title on Saturday. Smith arrives with a record reading 24 wins against one draw and a single defeat, but with that loss coming against Saul Alvarez in America, we can easily forgive him. This will be tight, but I am expecting Smith’s big-fight experience to pay off against an opponent who has yet to reach that level. 10/11 is a great price.

F1 – Hamilton win Chinese Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton finished second in the Australian Grand Prix last time, behind Seb Vettel. He has a score to settle with this race too, with last year’s effort seeing him start from the back of the grid, suffer car damage on lap one, and have to drop into the pits five times. He didn’t have a chance, but was still able to fight his way into seventh. He’ll dream of a clearer run this year, and we think he will get it. Hamilton is a 6/5 favourite to win the race with our traders, and for good reason.

Rugby – Leicester beat Bath

Leicester and Bath scrap it out with an eye on the top-four. Leicester are currently three points better off than their opponents and go into the round in fourth. A convincing win would strengthen their push, while keeping Bath at arm’s length. They have won five of their last six, while Bath have lost three of their last four. 10/11 Leicester finishes us off.
