Bet of the day: Djokovic defeats Murray in four sets once more

Coral’s bet of the day
- Djokovic has beaten Murray 3-1 in two Australian Open finals
- Wretched recent hard court head-to-head record for Scot
- Deadly Serb silenced all-time Grand Slam great Federer in semis
Fab 5/2 for Djokovic to win Australian Open final in four
Punters will need to be up early to take advantage of Coral’s bet of the day this Sunday with Andy Murray in action against ATP world number one Novak Djokovic in the 2016 Australian Open men’s single final.
These two top tennis pros are no strangers to one another when it comes to meetings in Melbourne, and Serbian racket star Djokvoic is fantastic value at 5/2 to win another Grand Slam title in four sets.
Murray knows he has a wretched record on hard courts against this foe, but being patriotic and backing the British player again does not look likely to reward punters this time.
History set to repeat itself
Both the 2013 and 2015 Australian Open men’s singles finals were between Djokovic and Murray, with the former running out a 3-1 winner each time.
On those occasions, the first couple of sets were shared on tiebreaks, showing how fine the margins are between them before deadly Djokovic pulled away from the Scot to scoop Grand Slam glory Down Under.
Make no mistake, the Serb has dominated proceedings in Melbourne, winning four of the last five titles, largely leaving the tennis world in his wake.
King of the hard courts
If Rafael Nadal is ‘the King of clay’, then Djokovic is definitely the equivalent on this surface. Murray knows that only too well with a solitary hard court victory in the last 14 meetings.
Djokovic’s game just suits the surface to a tee, and his fearsome form is reflected in his elimination of the evergreen all-time Grand Slam great Roger Ferderer in this year’s semis.
That victory also came in four sets, so Murray appears destined to fall similarly short against Djokovic once again. Take that fab 5/2 on offer for a 3-1 defeat by Djokovic!
