Rain delays don’t detract from value bets

Weather permitting, the French Open will enter the second round in the men’s and women’s singles draws on Wednesday, and punters can profit from that.

Coral’s tennis tipsters have got their heads together to come up with some eye-catching clay court Grand Slam wagers from scheduled day four contests at Roland Garros.

Who features among our proffered Paris punts? Read on below to find out…

Tiebreak in battle between Kyrgios and Sijsling

France Tennis French Open

Men’s 17th seed Nick Kyrgios had to hold his nerve in back-to-back tiebreaks against Marco Cecchinato en route to victory, and that set up an encounter for the Aussie with Igor Sijsling of the Netherlands.

With his Dutch opponent also taking a tiebreak victory in a straight sets first round win, that is hard evidence that neither man will give much away on serve. A superb 7/4 price says there shall be a tiebreak in Kyrgios v Sijsling.

Radwanska win, but Garcia to get a set

France Tennis French Open

French youngster Caroline Garcia has reached round two of her home Grand Slam for the third time, and was born in the outer suburbs of Paris.

Although tasked with a hugely tough opponent in women’s second seed and top Polish player Agnieszka Radwanska, the hometown lady can expect significant support.

Having met three times previously, Garcia has always taken at least a set off Radwanska. As the Pole has won two of their encounters, including on clay at the Madrid Masters two years ago, Radwanska is well worth backing to win 2-1 at an awesome 11/4 price.

Sock v Brown goes the distance

Tennis Davis Cup - Practice Germany

There’s a first-ever meeting between men’s 23rd seed Jack Sock of the USA and German-born Dustin Brown, but both these players came through their respective first round fixtures against Robin Haase and Dudi Sela in five sets.

While Nebraska native Sock made the French Open last 16 in 2015, former Jamaica representative Brown is in uncharted territory at Roland Garros by reaching this stage.

Given the struggle both men had to clear their opening obstacle in the main draw, the 3/1 price on this match going over 4.5 sets is terrific value.

Nishikori to nip through Kuznetsov clash

France Tennis French Open

Japanese tennis ace Kei Nishikori is seeded fifth at this year’s French Open, but had to retire injured in his only career outing against Andrey Kuznetsov.

That was some time ago and on grass not clay, however, yet it hinted the Russian could cause his oriental opponent some problems.

Nishikori is far from at his best on this surface at Roland Garros, and it is perfectly possible he will drop a set, so side with a 3-1 victory and be rewarded with odds of 11/4.

Watson to knock out Kuznetsova

France Tennis French Open

From Kuznetsov to compatriot Svetlana Kuznetsova. The 13th seed takes on Great Britain’s Heather Watson for the very first time in any competition at the French Open.

Kuznetsova looked less than convincing, having to come from a set down to win her opener at Roland Garros and, while it took Watson three sets to seal her passage into round two, the Russian may be there for the taking.

A patriotic punt on Watson winning her clash with Kuznetsova rewards punters with sensational odds of 7/4.
