Sam Barnard and Jamie Clark | July 1, 2016

2016 Wimbledon men’s singles

  • Third round (bottom half)
  • Saturday, July 2nd
  • Scheduled on court: 11:30 BST
  • All England Club, Wimbledon, southwest London
  • Live across the BBC

Emerging Austrian talent Dominic Thiem is the most high-profile casualty of an early exit from the Wimbledon men’s singles draw, but other top seeds are guaranteed to follow him from round three fixtures.

Murray to win opening set v Millman 6-1

Wimbledon Championships - Men 2nd round - London

As usual, Andy Murray is one of the remaining Brits at a Grand Slam in both sides of the draw, and the Scot has been in imperious form by dropping just 15 games from his opening two matches.

He now goes up against ATP world number 67 John Millman, who’s never reached this stage at Wimbledon before.

Murray has only faced the Australian once before, where he took the opening set 6-1 on the way to a win in Brisbane. Tempting odds of 13/2 say he can claim the first set by that scoreline once more.

Bautista Agut and Tomic to go the distance

2016 AEGON Championships - Day Five - The Queen's Club

Roberto Bautista Agut and Bernard Tomic are just four places apart in the ATP rankings, at 15 and 19 respectively, which suggests that this match could go all the way.

Tomic has reached the quarters here before in 2011, while the Spanish 28-year-old got to the first round last year, and Coral can’t split the duo in the betting.

The younger Australian has already gone to five sets during Wimbledon 2016 against another Spaniard in Fernando Verdasco, and odds of 9/4 say he will do the same with Bautista Agut too.

Ramos-Vinolas to claim second set 7-5 v Gasquet

ATP Tennis Tournament in Halle

Richard Gasquet is readying himself for a fifth career clash with Albert Ramos-Vinolas, and will be in confident mood having won the last three and just beaten another player from Spain Marcel Granollers.

However, Ramos-Vinolas has put up a fight in all their previous meetings, and has won the second set 7-5 twice.

While Gasquet is expected to advance to the fourth round, he is a highly enticing 33/1 shout to lose the second by that same scoreline again.

2016 Wimbledon ladies’ singles

  • Third round (top half)
  • Saturday, July 2nd
  • Scheduled on court: 11:30 BST
  • All England Club, Wimbledon, southwest London
  • Live across the BBC

Women’s seventh seed Belinda Bencic has followed 2015 Wimbledon runner-up Garbine Muguruza and former US Open champion Sam Stosur out of this year’s grass Grand Slam in round two, so that has left parts of this draw surprisingly wide open.

Bouchard to beat Cibulkova in three

Britain Wimbledon Tennis

Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard confirmed her return to form with a three-set victory over Great Britain number one and 16th seed Johanna Konta and now battles another top WTA top 20 player in Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia.

These two ladies have battled twice in the past 12 months, and it is resurgent Bouchard that has claimed victory in clashes that went the distance, including at the 2015 US Open.

Although Cibulkova secured the second set on both occasions by 6-4 scorelines (odds of 5/1 say this shall be the case again), a repeat 2-1 overall win for Bouchard is splendid value at 7/2.

Vandeweghe wins Vinci first set 6-2

Britain Wimbledon Tennis

Coco Vandeweghe is bidding to make the second week of a Grand Slam for only the second time in her burgeoning career. Reaching the quarters of Wimbledon last year, the American now encounters Italian veteran Roberta Vinci in round three.

Kateryna Bondarenko and Timea Babos both fell to Vandeweghe in straight sets, and a common denominator from those results is a 6-2 first set victory for the women’s 27th seed.

Vinci’s high rating of sixth does not reflect her game isn’t entirely suited to grass court surfaces, so there is every chance she will lose out here. Back Vandeweghe at awesome 11/2 odds to take a third successive opener 6-2.

Radwanska to get off to a flier in Siniakova showdown

Britain Wimbledon Tennis

Top Polish player Agnieszka Radwanska is seeded third at this year’s Wimbledon Championships and faces Czech upstart Katerina Siniakova, who conquered Caroline Garcia in the last round.

One feature of Radwanska’s campaign so far has been fast starts and punters can thus reasonably expect likewise here with a huge 111 places in the WTA ranking between her and Siniakova coming into the tournament.

Awesome 11/8 odds say Radwanska will race into a 2-0 first set lead over her opponent, with the ladies’ draw opening up nicely for the Pole to make the business end once again.
