Strictly Come Dancing 2015 final: Can anyone stop Jay McGuiness?

Jamie Clark | December 18, 2015

The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness has been Coral’s odds-on (2/9) outright winner favourite for Strictly Come Dancing 2015 for some time, but the judges’ scores count for nothing in the series 13 final.

A public vote accounts for full weighting in determining who gets their hands on the Glitter Ball Trophy, with Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli just there to give viewers guidance.

McGuiness, 25, has received the highest score for five routines (Argentine tango, jive, rumba, salsa and tango) with professional partner Aliona Vilani so far, and has never been in the dance-off unlike the other three finalists.

Against the field (3/1), Jay is still a firm 2/9 favourite, and appeals to Strictly’s key demographic. It is thus hard to look past him.

Georgia May Foote her way to top female

Strictly Come Dancing Launch 2015 - Hertfordshire

Former Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote is rated as the celebrity most likely to challenge McGuiness for the Glitter Ball Trophy at 6/1. She holds four routine top scores this series (Charleston, cha-cha-cha, foxtrot and samba) with Giovanni Pernice.

May Foote may appeal to male viewers, and that explains her odds-on prices to be top female celeb (8/11) and in the betting without May (also 8/11).

Long-serving Strictly dance pro Anton du Beke has got through to his first-ever final with BBC Radio 3 and Proms presenter Katie Derham. Although they are rank outright outsiders at 18/1 and odds-on at 4/6 to finish fourth, Anton remains hugely popular with the public.

If Derham can iron out mistakes, then this couple could well survive the first cut – perhaps at the expense of Eastenders actress Kellie Bright and Kevin Clifton.

‘Kevin from Grimsby’ had never been in a dance-off until this series of Strictly, but has had to survive two with Kellie, and this fact should not be forgotten by punters. At 11/1 to win this series, smarter money may be on the 13/8 about this couple finishing fourth.

Coral’s top tip: Kellie Bright is an intriguing 13/8 to be first eliminated from the Strictly 2015 final.
