Warriors hope to keep Wolves from the door to reach Grand Final

Wigan are one match away from having the opportunity to retain the Super League Grand Final trophy, and have an odds-on price of 4/9 with Coral to get the better of Warrington in the semi-final, who are 7/4 themselves to progress.

Warriors’ 21-year-old centre Dan Sarginson, 14/1 to score first, has spoken ahead of the clash about his blossoming partnership with winger Joe Burgess this season, and is confident there is more to come. “Joe and I train together every day, and we’ve played alongside each other for a large part of the year,” he said.

“The longer we play alongside each other, the better we’ll be. It’s been going good recently, it definitely feels like we’re building a good bond there.”

Even former Kangaroos full-back Matty Bowen has picked the duo out as the players that have particularly impressed this term, since he arrived at the club.

“Young [Joe] Burgess has been the stand-out, along with Dan Sarginson,” he said. “Young Joe has come back from injury, he played well against Leeds and held his spot alongside Sarge.

“For me, it’s good playing alongside those young fellas, and they’re only going to keep getting better and better.”

Former Wigan and Saints hooker Micky Higham, is 4/1 to cross the whitewash anytime has said that the two sides are evenly matched, and going into the game, the 34-year-old Warrington player is aware that anything can happen on the day.

“They’re looking strong at the moment in defence and with the ball,” said Higham. “Both of our matches this season have been very close and a real game of two halves for each side. We’re two evenly matched teams who can produce some quality Rugby League. Anything can happen on the day.

“Tony Smith has said we can use last year’s Grand Final loss as motivation if we want to. It still plays on my mind so it will be nice to get one over on them on Friday,” Higham expanded.

“I enjoyed my time at Wigan and I like going back to the stadium. The fans are fantastic there and they still make time to come and speak to me after games which is nice. I’m looking forward to Friday and hopefully plenty of our fans will be there to make it a cracker.”
