Weekend in pictures

It was another enthralling weekend of sporting highs and lows across the globe, from joyful Leicester City’s massive step towards the Premier League title, to Manny Pacquiao’s impressive last hurrah against Timothy Bradley. Meanwhile, Ireland had five of the first six home in the 2016 Crabbie’s Grand National and Anthony Joshua reigned supreme in London.

Having trained the Irish Grand National winner, Rogue Angel, Mouse Morris came over to the Aintree more in hope than exception, but his Rule The World completed an unlikely double with the English equivalent and rival handler Willie Mullins’ nephew David did the steering.

The hosts took the lead after 70 minutes through Dele Alli, with Toby Alderweireld heading in the second and Erik Lamela rounding off proceedings for a comfortable home win to see Spurs stay seven points behind Leicester in the Premier League title race.

Spieth collapse sees Willett win US Masters

Long-standing US Masters leader Jordon Spieth endured a dramatic final day collapse at Augusta which handed Sheffield’s Danny Willett the initiative, as the Yorkshireman incredible took home the green jacket with a three-shot major victory.
