Andy Murray now odds-on to be Sports Personality of the Year

Andy Murray is now odds-on at 8-11 with leading bookmaker Coral to be crowned the BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2016 after the Scotsman became the number one ranked player in the world this afternoon. Murray has reached the final of Paris Masters following Milos Raonic’s withdrawal and he can be backed at 1-4 to win the title in tomorrow’s final.

Elsewhere in the 2016 BBC Sports Personality of the Year betting, Olympic triathlon champion Alistair Brownlee is second best in the betting at 11-4, Mo Farah can be backed at 9-2 and Laura Trott is 9-1.

“Andy Murray has made history by becoming the first British singles player to reach number one in the world rankings therefore we think he is surely the one to beat for this year’s Sports Personality of the Year where he is now odds-on to win the award for the third time in his career,” said Coral’s John Hill.
