Andy Murray odds-on to continue Wimbledon progress
Andy Murray faces his toughest test yet at this year’s Wimbledon when he takes on Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals tomorrow, but the reigning champion is still odds-on favourite, at 2-7 with bookmaker Coral, to defeat his Bulgarian opponent and set up a potential semi-final showdown with Novak Djokovic on Friday. Number 11 seed Dimitrov is 11-4 to beat the British number one, while Murray is 11-8 to continue his flawless record at this year’s championships and win in straight sets, and 9-4 to retain his crown at SW19, an outcome that would see the bookies paying out millions.
“The many punters who have backed Andy Murray to retain his title have not had much to worry about during this tournament, and although in Dimitrov he faces his toughest test so far, the odds suggest Murray will continue his progress towards a semi-final showdown against Djokovic on Friday,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“It’s not just the rising temperatures at SW19 making us sweat, the further Murray goes, the closer we get to another huge payout,” added Stevens.
