Bookies think Cook captaincy is in the balance

Bookmaker Coral is betting on whether Alastair Cook will captain England at the 2015 ODI World Cup early next year in which they go 5-6 for the opening batsman to lead the side for the competition and 5-6 he doesn’t. England are priced up at 6-1 to win the tournament, with Australia topping the betting at 3-1.

“The ECB have a big decision to make following another disappointing 50 over series and we feel Alastair Cook’s captaincy remains in the balance as we are the same price for him to keep the role as he is to leave the post before the World Cup in early 2015,” said Coral’s John Hill.

In the 5th ODI between England and India tomorrow, the visitors are 4-6 to pick up another victory, while England are available at 6-5 with the firm to get a win on the board.

“It’s all been one-way traffic for India ahead of the final ODI. The visitors were far superior at Edgbaston and punters feel it will be the same result when the sides meet at Headingley,” added Hill.
