Bookies expect Pippa to tie the knot late next year

Following the news that Pippa Middleton has become engaged to James Matthews, bookmaker Coral has opened betting on a variety of wedding specials to mark the occasion. The firm expect the couple to tie the knot late in 2017, pricing it at 6-4, while a wedding in 2016 is unlikely at 10-1.

James’ famous reality TV star brother, Spencer, is the 5-1 favourite to be the best man, with James Middleton priced at 10-1, ahead of Prince Williams at 16-1. Meanwhile, the Queen is odds-on at 1-2 to attend the ceremony.

The engagement news has also prompted a flurry of bets on when Pippa will announce she is expecting her first child, and Coral go 10-1 that she announces baby news late next year.

“Britain’s most eligible woman is off the market and with what will be most talked about upcoming wedding since the marriage of Will and Kate, punters are already queuing up to place their bets,” said Coral’s Nicola McGeady.

“If the odds are right, then Pippa and James will wed in the second half of 2017, Spencer Matthews will be the best man, the Queen will be in attendance, and baby news will come at the end of next year,” added McGeady.
