Kenny and Trott both odds-on to be knighted
British cycling’s golden couple, Jason Kenny and Laura Trott, are both odds-on with leading bookmaker Coral to be knighted later this year after the pair made history in Rio at the Olympics. Kenny, who equalled Sir Chris Hoy as the all-time leading British Olympian with six gold medals, is 1-3 to be on the Queen’s New Year list, while his fiancée, Trott, is 1-2 to be a Dame following her fourth Olympic gold medal which makes her the most successful British female competitor.
Kenny and Trott are both prominent at 6-1 in the betting for the 2016 BBC Sports Personality of the Year where Andy Murray is the 11-10 favourite to pick up the award for the third time in his career.
Kenny can also be backed at 1-2 with Coral to break the record he shares with Hoy in Tokyo in 2020 by winning a seventh gold medal.
“They now have an incredible 10 gold medals between them, making them Britain’s golden couple ahead of their wedding later this year. The cycling duo are both odds-on to be knighted later this year, while in the betting for the 2016 BBC Sports Personality of the Year, they can’t be separated at 6-1 where they have just Andy Murray and Mo Farah ahead of them on the list,” said Coral’s John Hill.
“At the age of 28, Kenny has many more years ahead of him in the sport so we make him odds-on to win a seventh gold medal in Tokyo, a feat no other British Olympian has achieved before,” added Hill.
