Punters rush to back royal baby boy

Punters are now putting their money on a future King according to Coral bookmaker, who has witnessed a rush of bets in the last 24 hours on Kate and William having a boy. Initially the mass support was in favour of a girl, but as Kate’s due date fast approaches, punters appear to have changed their minds on the sex of the baby. Coral still make a girl the 1-2 favourite, but have chopped the odds on a boy into 6-4 from 15-8 following the support.

“Speculation over the sex of the royal baby has been rife over the last couple of months and as the due date approaches, opinions are changing. A few months ago Kate hinted at a girl and punters queued up to back a female heir, but since a spokesperson for the royal family announced that they don’t know the sex, it’s become a level playing field and plenty of punters have taken a U-turn, backing the birth of a future King”, commented Coral’s Nicola McGeady.
