Roberto Di Matteo 4-7 to take over at the Stadium of Light
Following the news that Sunderland have parted company with Paolo Di Canio after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at West Brom, Coral make the former Baggies and Chelsea manager, Roberto Di Matteo the 4-7 favourite to take over.
Gus Poyet, who was recently sacked by Brighton, is 5-1 to replace Di Canio with the former Scotland and Nottingham Forest manager, Alex McLeish 6-1.
“If reports are to be believed, Roberto Di Matteo was already being lined up to replace Paolo Di Canio following Sunderland’s latest defeat. The 43 year-old has been out of work since leaving Chelsea in November 2012, but it’s now looks like Di Matteo could be returning to the big stage with the Black Cats,” said Coral’s Tim Reynolds.
Whoever takes over at the Stadium of Light is going to face a tough ask in turning Sunderland’s fortunes around. The Black Cats are currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with just one point from their opening five league games. Coral quote 6-5 for the North-East side to be relegated this season and 8-13 they stay up.
