Sponsor celebrates stellar Coral-Eclipse declarations

The sponsor of Saturday’s Coral-Eclipse today expressed it’s delight at the strength and depth of the eleven declarations for its flagship sponsorship.

The Fugue heads Coral’s betting at 9/4 with Night Of Thunder next best at 3/1. Verrazano is 11/2 with Kingston Hill a 7/1 chance.

“We are absolutely thrilled at the quality and quantity of runners for our flagship sponsorship in its thirty ninth year. We have been blessed with some amazing races in recent years and some top class winners but this year’s renewal has the potential to be up there with the very best of them”, said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.

“The race has always been heralded as the first Group One clash of the generations and never has the race lived up so well to that billing. The Fugue, Verrazano and Mukhadram represent top class Group One form from all corners of the world and even on different racing surfaces. And to then have the winner of the 2000 Guineas, the runner-up in the Derby and one of last year’s top two year olds in War Command, representing the Classic generation is truly sensational. It is without doubt a race to savour”, said Clare.

“The Coral-Eclipse is always in the top 10 Flat races of the year both in terms of quality, and also in terms of betting turnover, demonstrating the breadth of its appeal to the participants in the sport and its customers. Based on the depth of this year’s field I would expect turnover to be as stellar as the line-up”, added Clare.

“There’s a lot being written about sponsors and races at the moment, but one sure way to ensure your brand gets he recognition it deserves when sponsoring an event is to partner that event for a long period of time, work with the racecourse year in year out to improve and develop that event, and then share in the benefits that positive collaborative working relationship. Coral and Sandown have forged a wonderful working relationship that has stood the test of time, and the continued health and appeal of the Coral-Eclipse is testimony to that”, concluded Clare.
