Join Coral’s weekend in pictures as we sum up a thrilling few days of sport in amazing images. This weekend, across November 26-27 we’ve seen the Premier League bring us a nine-goal bonanza, as well as a first Formula 1 world championship being claimed by Nico Rosberg.

There was much captivating horse racing action this weekend, with the Hennessy Gold Cup, Fighting Fifth Hurdle and Troytown Handicap Chase all contested.

Native River wins thrilling Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury Native River dug deep to hold off the late challenge of Carole’s Destrier and land the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury. The Colin Tizzard trained gelding, who was sent off the heavily-backed 7-2 favourite, won by 1/2 a length to provide champion jockey Richard Johnson with a first win in the race.

Irving battles to victory in Fighting Fifth

Irving bounced back to his best to clinch his second victory in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle. The Paul Nicholls trained eight-year-old battled on bravely to prevail by a short-head from favourite Apples Jade in a ding-dong tussle to the line to provide up-and-coming jockey Harry Cobden with a first Grade 1 success.

Empire Of Dirt cruised to a four length length victory over Abolitionist to provide trainer Gordon Elliott with a third consecutive success in the valuable Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan. The County Meath handler won six of the seven races on the card for an accumulator that paid odds of 41,276/1. The only race he failed in was the beginners' chase, won impressively by Willie Mullins' Arkle hope Min.

Football: Premier League

The Premier League did not pause for breath this weekend, as Saturday saw a superb London derby plus nine goals as Swansea City took on Crystal Palace. While, Chelsea returned to the top of the PL table.

There was a flurry of four goals in 10 minutes as Swansea secured a last-gasp 5-4 victory over Crystal Palace. Viewers were treated to nine goals, with seven of those arriving in the second half, but it was super sub Fernando Llorente whose brace bagged the Swans a crucial three points.

Liverpool keep pace with Chelsea after Sunderland success

Jurgen Klopp celebrated with Dejan Lovren at the final whistle, as Liverpool broke down a stubborn Sunderland side 2-0 thanks to Divock Origi and James Milner. The Reds' result means they keep pace just one point off Chelsea atop the PL standings, though Philippe Coutinho is a big loss after coming off through injury.
