Hunter’s Light heads Dubai World Cup betting after draw is announced

| 27.03.2013

Dubai World Cup favourite Hunter’s Light was clipped into 4-1 from 9-2 to land the world’s richest race after being drawn from stall four at the draw ceremony. The Godolphin five-year-old will face tough competition from top American mare Royal Delta after she was ideally drawn in stall eight and Coral bookmakers have installed her as the 5-1 second favourite.

Meanwhile, American invader Animal Kingdom was unlucky in the draw, and will break from stall 12 and Coral bookmakers have pushed his odds out to 11-2 from 5-1 to land Saturday’s $10 million World Cup.

“Since the ante-post betting opened up at the start of February, Hunter’s Light has been the best backed horse, having opened up at 16-1 and then backed right into 4-1”, commented Coral’s Nicola McGeady.

American Kingdom was less fortunate in the draw and has begun to drift in the betting after his owner was left to choose between 12 and 13”, she added.
