Aston Villa eased in relegation betting
Coral have eased Aston Villa to 13-2 (from 11-5) to be relegated this season following their 6-1 victory over Sunderland. The result means that Villa are now five points above the drop zone with three matches left to play.
Sunderland, who are level on points with both Aston Villa and Newcastle, are now 10-1 to be playing Championship football next season. It’s 10-11 for the Black Cats to end the season above their North-East rivals Newcastle.
Villa’s joy though is Wigan’s misery with the Latics now looking likely to be joining QPR and Reading in the Championship next season. It’s 2-5 for Wigan to be relegated this season and 11-10 for Roberto Martinez to leave the DW Stadium before the start of next season.
“40 points should be enough to see Villa survive the drop so if Paul Lambert’s men can gain a minimum of three points from their final three matches, their Premier League status should be safe guarded,” said Coral’s Tim Reynolds.
“However, Villa do have to travel to the DW Stadium on the last day of the season so there could be a final twist if Villa were to lose their next two matches against Norwich and Chelsea,” added Reynolds.
