York Charity Sprint Trophy Preview

| 14.06.2013

Moviesta is part-owned by Queen’s Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp and is bidding for a hat-trick with Paul Mulrennan in the saddle. He started the season with a victory over six furlongs at Doncaster before following up on this track over five furlongs last month.

Moviesta only just held the late charge of Vincentti by a nose but he looked to have a bit more up his sleeve and could still be well handicapped. Vincentti will also have plenty of supporters with the extra furlong looking certain to suit.

Richard Fahey’s Heaven’s Guest followed up a victory at Hamilton Park by winning a decent seven-furlong handicap at Epsom’s Derby meeting. He has been raised 7lbs for that success but should not be too inconvenienced by the drop back to six furlongs.

There has been strong support this week for Cosmic Chatter who runs in the colours of Highclere Racing. He put up an eye-catching display when a close third to Smoothtalkinrascal and Lucky Beggar over five furlongs here last time out. The winner has since finished second in the Epsom Dash and Cosmic Chatter is expected to improve for the step up in trip.

Lucky Beggar was well beaten by Professor at Haydock last weekend and looks to have plenty of weight. Ralph Beckett runs the talented Lewisham who finally broke his maiden on the all-weather at Kempton last time. Lewisham finished second in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket last season and holds Ahern and Chilworth Icon on that form.

Hasopop has been saddled with top weight after winning a similarly competitive sprint at Newmarket. He has since finished third over seven furlongs at Epsom but this looks to be his ideal distance. William Haggas is fitting first time blinkers to Odooj and he could be an interesting outsider from his number one stall.

There has also been significant support for Rivellino this week. Elaine Burke’s colt looked unlucky behind Moviesta in April and again behind Hasopop last time. He ran out an easy winner at Kempton in between and is weighted to run a big race.
