Chelsea and Barcelona included in big-boy Champions League fivefold

| 10.12.2013

Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund were all successful in the second gameweek of Champions League fixtures and Coral are offering 7/2 as an enhanced multiple that this quintet all triumph again in the final round of group-stage games.

If this Champions League bet was placed as a normal fivefold, the price would only be 11/5, which goes to show what a fruitful enhancement this could prove to be.

Bayern Munich are bidding to become just the third team this century to end the Champions League group stages with a 100 per cent-winning record and they are 4/9 to secure a home success over Manchester City.

The reigning Champions League holders have won every home game in all competitions since losing to Arsenal in March and have already triumphed away at Man City this season.

Man City are hardly brilliant travellers either, as they would be in the bottom half of the Premier League standings if only road-trip results were taken into account.

Barcelona, like Bayern, are another side that are pretty invincible on their own patch, winning 11 of their last 12 at the Nou Camp. The one exception was a goalless draw with Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.

It is 1/6 that Barcelona beat Celtic next, even though the Scottish visitors have scored 12 goals without reply in their last two away games, against relatively strong domestic opposition in Hearts and Motherwell.

However, Celtic have lost six of their last eight away days in the Champions League, with their sole success coming against Northern Irish minnows Cliftonville.

Chelsea are the final member of the quintet playing at home, with Steaua Bucharest visiting Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho may have to be patient as Steaua have not conceded in the first half of their two previous Group E away encounters, but as the Romanians are already confirmed to finish bottom of the group, they may not put up the greatest fight here.

Having already won 4-0 at Steaua, Chelsea’s odds of 2/9 to take the three points seem justified.

Real Madrid and Dortmund are the two away teams and also face the bottom sides in their respective groups.

Copenhagen host Real Madrid and have already taken four points off Juventus and Galatasaray in their previous home encounters in Group B.

But, Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be fit and is bidding to become the first player ever to score nine goals in the group stages of the competition, which can spur Real Madrid to a triumph at 4/9.

Dortmund appear the most likely failures of this multiple as they travel to Marseille without virtually their whole first-choice defence and midfield, while they have not even netted a goal on any of their last four visits to France.

Marseille will be managed by sporting director Jose Anigo after parting company with Elie Baup and are still without a group-stage point.

A Dortmund victory will secure their place in the knockout rounds and can be backed singularly at 2/5.
