Ryanair Chase winner Dynaste on course for Aintree

| 18.03.2014

David Pipe has revealed that Dynaste is likely to head to Aintree for the Betfred Bowl following his impressive success in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

The eight-year-old put a poor run in the King George behind him when coming from off the pace to beat Hidden Cyclone going away by 2 1/4 lengths in the 2m 5f Grade 1 contest, and his handler believes that the 3m 1f race at the home of the Grand National is tailor-made for him.

Speaking on his website, Pipe said: “I cannot tell you how pleased I was to see Dynaste vindicate the high esteem in which he has always been held at Pond House with a decisive victory in the Ryanair Chase.

“He could well head to Punchestown, although the 3m1f of the Betfair Bowl at Aintree’s Grand National meeting looks tailor made for him and will probably be his next target.”

Dynaste has course and distance winning form at the Merseyside track having run out the impressive six length winner of the Grade 2 John Smith’s Mildmay Novices Chase at last years’ meeting.

Eight-year-olds also have a decent record in Betfred Bowl, with the stats revealing that three have triumphed in the last eight runnings.

The Pipe family also have a tremendous record in the race having won it four times in the last 10 years.

David’s legendary father Martin saddled 2004 and 2006 with Tiutchev and Celestial Gold to score in 2004 and 2006 respectively, and David himself saddled back-to-back winners in 2008/09 courtesy of Our Vic and Madison Du Berlais after taking over the trainers’ license at Pond House.

Possible rivals for Dynaste include the Mouse Morris-trained First Lieutenant who won the race 12 months ago and was pulled out of the Cheltenham Gold Cup on the morning of the race having reportedly not eaten up, and Paul Nicholls’ Silviniaco Conti who finished third in last year’s renewal and an honourable fourth in this year’s Gold Cup.

The Betfred Bowl is the feature on the opening day of three-day Aintree meeting on Thursday, April 3rd.
