Week seven of PL Darts set for record attendance in Leeds

CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

A match-up between Premier League powerhouses Peter Wright and Raymond van Barneveld headlines week seven of the competition. It is set to be an epic, and a draw at 4/1 looks the best bet.

Leeds is the venue for this round, and it is expected to bring in a record Premier League Darts crowd of around 11,000. It is the first time the tournament has taken place at the First Direct Arena and it promises to be a special occasion with a partisan Yorkshire backing.

Van Barneveld and Wright are both fighting it out to finish first in the league (10/1 and 9/2 respectively) and have outright title chances of 16/1 and 6/1.

Snakebite Wright leads the way in the league this campaign and is still the only player undefeated. He is slight favourite to win again at 6/5, while his Dutch opponent is priced at 13/10. An extra incentive for Van Barneveld is that by getting a victory here, he will be level on points with Wright.

A 7/2 scoreline in favour of Barney here (odds of 16/1) will see him overtake the Scot and, if Van Gerwen loses or draws, he will top the table.

Taylor (4/1 for the title) has a chance of winning two matches in a row for the first time this season in the league, as he takes on Newton – who got thrashed by Van Gerwen 7-1 the previous week.

Back The Power, who is second-bottom, odds-on at 2/5 for only his third victory of the term. Newton has already beaten Van Barneveld in week two, and has a price of 4/1 to cause another upset.

The third game of the night sees Van Gerwen and Anderson (highest checkout in the competition with 170 – with odds of 9/1 to record the best of the night) go head-to-head. Both have won the Premier League once each but the Dutchman is heavy favourite at 1/2 for victory here. Anderson, who is only two points behind his opponent, however, has odds of 3/1.

Elsewhere, Adrian Lewis (4/5) and Robert Thornton (2/1) face each other, while a battle at the bottom between 10th and eighth place, Simon Whitlock (13/10) and Dave Chisnall (6/5) receptively, opens the evening’s event.

Chisnall, desite his lowly position, has recorded the highest number of 180s this tounament so far with 30, and is favourite at 7/2 to score the most on the night. Title-favourite Van Gerwen (evens), meanwhile, is priced at 4/1.

Coral regular double Dutch special for Van Gerwen and Van Barnelveld victories is priced this time at 13/5, while there are odds of 13/8 for both Taylor and Lewis to win their matches.
