Coral World Cup 50 day countdown begins with fantastic offer

| 23.04.2014

Coral are starting the countdown to the World Cup by providing special odds to customers every day until the competition begins in 50 days’ time, on June 12th. We kick off this promotion with today’s offer, which is for any England player to be named player of the tournament, at 50/1.

Here is why this is a fantastic bet to make.

The likes of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Liverpool trio Daniel Sturridge, Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling, among others, are all fantastic chances for the prestigious accolade.

England’s last winner of the Golden Ball was Sir Bobby Charlton back in 1966 when he masterminded his side to the famous victory. However, although Roy Hodgson’s men are not favourites this time around to win the World Cup, the last three players of the tournament have not come from the squad of champions.

Liverpool’s contingent are certainly in high spirits, and Sturridge is a great shout. His 20 goals in 26 Premier League appearances have helped his side to the brink of title triumph.

Teammate Sterling, meanwhile, described as being “the best young player in Europe” by club boss Brendan Rodgers, has been pivotal in his side’s current run of 11 straight victories. With 10 goals and eight assists in all competitions this season, he is certainly one to watch.

Gerrard has been the conductor to the successful Reds orchestra this term, and the England captain, who has 13 goals and 10 assists from 31 league matches, will hope to emulate Liverpool’s performances by leading his country far in the competition.

World class forward Rooney is due a decent showing at an international competition, and although his club have been dire at times this season, his maturity has shone and he has still managed to 15 Premier League goals.

Other contenders include Southampton’s Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Arsenal. The Saints star has nine goals and six assists in his side’s league campaign, while the latter, who scored against World Cup hosts Brazil in the Maracana last June, has the potential to shine.
