Back Liverpool in Premier League title showdown with Man City

| 12.04.2014

Three of the last four head-to-heads in all competitions between Liverpool and Manchester City have resulted in 2-2 draws. You can take a price of 10/1 for that same scoreline in this crunch Premier League fixture.

The top two title favourites (City odds-on at 4/5, Liverpool at 7/4) battle it out for what could arguably be the clincher in the race for the trophy.

Brendan Rodgers’ Reds are in fantastic form, having won their last nine in the league (14 unbeaten), and currently top the table by two points, ahead of Chelsea (13/2). City, meanwhile, sit four points behind, but have two games in hand and a victory for the away side would certainly put them firmly on the front foot.

Liverpool have managed to score an average of 3.38 goals from their last 13 matches in league, and have failed to net in just two of their last 33, so back them with fantastic odds of 3/1 to get over 2.5 again, or 10/1 for more than 3.5.

Manuel Pellegrini will be somewhat disheartened, however, by the club’s poor record at Anfield, as City have not won there since 2003 in all competitions – 12 games ago. Liverpool have played four of the current top-seven at home so far in the league, beating them all, and that record is why Liverpool are favourites for victory here at 7/5.

The Reds will be hoping that the league’s top two scorers Luis Suarez (six goals in his last six) and Daniel Sturridge (12 in 14) can carry on their impressive form. They are both priced at 5/4 in the anytime scorer market.

City will be very pleased that 26 goals for the season man Sergio Aguero is set to feature for the first time in over two months. The Argentine star, who has been out with various injuries this term, is 7/4 to net anytime on his comeback.

The Sky Blues have not managed to lose in five league attempts to Liverpool, so you can back them at 2/1 to win here and close the gap to just one point.

Good news for both sides in terms of injuries. For City, other than the return of Aguero, Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure are expected to be ready to play after suffering minor knocks. While for Liverpool, Daniel Agger and Joe Allen are fit to feature, but may find themselves on the bench.
