Chantilly cash-back special
The Group 1 Prix Du jockey Club takes centre stage on a tremendous card at Chantilly today, and Coral are offering a money back special on all races at the French venue.
The firm will give you money back as a free bet (up to £/€25) if your horse gets beat a head or less.
The offer applies to the win part of win and each-way singles, and free bets will be credited 12pm the day after the race.
It’s a terrific concession to get involved in an outstanding day’s racing which sees Prince Gibraltar and Karakontie go head-to-head in a classy renewal of the Prix Du Jockey Club (3.15).
The former has improved at a rate of knots since finishing fourth on debut, winning three times.
The son of Rock Of Gibraltar was ultra impressive in the last of those when showing a devastating turn of foot to land the Group 2 Prix Greffulhe at Saint-Clud over today’s trip of 1m 2f, and looks a worthy favourite.
The Jonathon Pease trained Karakonite has won four of his six starts, with the latest of those successens coming in the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains over a mile at Longchamp.
The son of Bernstein now tackles 1m 2f for the first time, but the way he kept finding more in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains suggest it should be within his compass.
There are also two UK raiders in the line-up in the shape of The Grey Gatsby and Ayrad.
Trained by Kevin Ryan, The Grey Gatsby showed a good attitude when winning the Group 2 Dante Stakes at York and with Ryan Moore in the saddle looks to hold solid each-way claims.
Ayrad looked a useful performer in the making when winning easily last time out at Hamilton, but this race represents a huge step up in class for Roger Varian’s colt and it will be a major surprise if the son of Dalakhani is good enough to trouble the principles.
