Suarez sensationally linked to Manchester United

CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Louis van Gaal is readying a move for Liverpool star Luis Suarez, and according to well-connected sources, is ready to make him his first signing at Old Trafford.

The Uruguayan striker, who netted 31 times in 33 appearances for the Reds last term is set to become the subject of major interest, and could spark a major bidding war between Manchester United and Real Madrid.

An offer of around £65m is being readied by the inner circle, from within the depths of Old Trafford, a fee which is believed to trump Champions League winners Real by £15m.

Suarez recently signed a new four-year contract at Anfield, however, after Arsenal’s attempts to secure his signature last summer, this is being seen as a strategic effort by the rainmakers at Liverpool to push up the price for his services. Especially after the whole country saw Tottenham Hotspur squeeze as much cash out of Los Blancos for Gareth Bale.

Van Gaal has been handed a reported £200m to rebuild the United squad, and right on cue every newspaper and media outlet in Europe has had their fun drawing up their version of what is practically a fantasy football team.

If Suarez is drawn to ‘The Theatre of Dreams’, he can take comfort in the fact that he will not have to uproot his family, with daughter Delfina enrolled in a Liverpool school. With many United players already scattered around the Cheshire/Lancashire M62 corridor, he would be in familiar company with colleagues who undertake the commute.

Sharp-shooter Suarez who is 22/1 to be top scorer at the World Cup, will be focusing purely on the tournament, though it’s possible Uruguay could come up against Van Gaal’s Netherlands, and the Dutchman could see first hand what he can do.

One thing is for sure, the player will be plying his trade in some variant of red clothing next season.
