Yarmouth Preview: Tanzeel can strike for in-form Hills

| 15.07.2014

Trainer Charlie Hills has his team in terrific form at present, and Tanzeel holds outstanding claims of providing him with another success in the 6f handicap at Yarmouth this evening (7.50).

The colt posted a useful effort when winning on his second start as a juvenile at Newmarket, leading at the furlong marker and storming clear to score impressively by 4 1/2 lengths.

The son of Elusive City was then well beaten in a valuable sales race at Doncaster, but looked a handicapper to keep onside when finishing an excellent second on seasonal reappearance at Newmarket last month.

Tanzeel lost vital ground at the start when slowly away, but stayed on in tremendous style to be beaten just a head by Ex Ex.

Although now running of 2lb higher, it was an effort which suggested Tanzeel had the potential to be far better than his current mark of 87.

The three-year-old is also sure to strip much fitter for the outing, his first in 282 days, and with Paul Hanagan in the saddle is going to take the world of beating.

Tete Orange bounced back to form when runner-up last time out and looks poised to go one better in the 1m 1f handicap (7.20).

The Stuart Williams’ trained filly went down by just a length to Good Hope in a 1m 2f class 5 contest at this venue six days ago, and is now able to race off 2lb lower.

That makes the daughter of Pastoral Pursuits looks a handicap blot, especially now dropping down into class 6 company.

Tete Orange also now gets the professional services of Martin Harley in the saddle having been apprentice ridden in that contest, and providing the race doesn’t come too quick it looks her’s for the taking.
In the 6f contest (8.20), Celestial Knight is a fascinating contender on handicap debut off what could well be a lenient opening mark.

The gelding has not been at his best in two runs this season, but ran really well on his sole run as a juvenile when a 4 3/4 length third to Merletta at Kempton.

The winner was officially rated 97 having previously finished fourth in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York, and the runner-up Potentate has gone on to score since and is now rated 77.

That is extremely strong form in the context of this class 6 contest, and makes the lightly raced and unexposed Celestial Knight look potentially ahead of the assessor.
