Europe narrowly lead in the Ryder Cup with Rose the star man

CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Europe are narrowly hanging on to a slender lead in the Ryder Cup, after three rounds of matchplay at Gleneagles. The host’s advantage is just one point, with the score at 6 1/2 to 5 1/2. Despite just a tight lead, Europe are still odds-on favourites with Coral at 8/11 to win the Ryder Cup, though if you fancy a draw at this stage, take a price of 8/1.

Rory McIlroy endured another tough morning partnered with Ian Poulter, up against resilient pairing in Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker. The pendulum swung from one side to the other, with both teams bouncing back, however the match ended in a draw.

Attention for McIlroy now turns to the fourballs, with the Northern Irishman partnered with Sergio Garcia once again, as they take on Jim Furyk and Hunter Mahan. The European contingent have an odds-on price of 5/6 to get the better of the trans-Atlantic rivals.

Arguably the most impressive pairing of the tournament, Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed got the better of experienced seasoned professionals, Thomas Bjorn and Martin Kaymer. The two American rookies have looked untouchable throughout in Scotland, and would be unlucky to be on the losing side at the end of the tournament.

For Kaymer, he will partner Justin Rose for the fourballs, and hope to get the better of Spieth and Reed this time round. The two Americans have odds of 11/8 to produce another shock, in what could be the tie of the round.

Rose himself has, perhaps, been the most consistent player for Europe. Paired with Swede Henrik Stenson, the duo beat Bubba Watson and Matt Kuchar, however Stenson has said he will miss the next session to rest his back.

Lee Westwood, who performed admirably in his first match partners Jamie Donaldson for the fourballs, with the pair taking on Zach Johnson and Matt Kuchar. The Europeans are outsiders at 11/8 to beat the two Americans, however they lost the morning session to Furyk and Mahan.
