Adryan to make derby debut as Leeds host Wednesday

| 04.10.2014

New Leeds United boss Darko Milanic has confirmed that Brazilian midfielder Adryan will make his debut at some point against Sheffield Wednesday; the Whites are 7/4 shots with Coral to take all three points.

The 20-year-old is on loan from Flamengo at Elland Road, with the Whites 8/1 to finish in the top six, and has blossomed in the reserves so far this season. Adryan has been named as an unused substitute in the first team on a handful of occasions, and is now ‘ready’, according to Milanic, to make the step up.

“He played on Monday with the Under-21 team in their championship and he did very well. That means he’s ready,” said the Slovenian manager. “He played well, I saw him for the first time and I’ll think about him.”

Under Milanic’s reign so far, the club have earned one point from two games, a slight drop in form compared to the good run they experienced under caretaker boss Neil Redfearn; however, the progress is going in the right direction. A lacklustre 2-0 defeat away at Brentford was followed up by a hard-working stalemate at home to Reading, and new summer signing Casper Sloth has revealed he is relishing his new role under Milanic.

Against Reading, Sloth played further forward and seemed to excel: “It was not a wildly unusual role for me”, he explained.

“The manager just got here, so I do not know how well he knows me and the other players. I like to get the ball in the gap and move the game forward on the field – and it went fine.”

Striker Souleymane Doukara, who has enjoyed a good spell in the team recently, scoring four goals in all competitions, is starting to show signs that he can be an adequate replacement for Ross McCormack, who moved to Fulham in the summer, and is 6/1 to slam home first.

Wednesday, who lead Leeds by two points in the table, will be relying on top scorer Atdhe Nuhiu, who has five goals in every competition is 13/2 to net the opener, with his side in with a chance of getting into a play-off spot. They will also be hoping striker Steve May can do the business, after he earned his first senior international call-up for Scotland, and is 7/4 to score anytime.
