Keeper to Cech-out of Stamford Bridge? Five possible destinations

| 08.10.2014

Petr Cech is quite simply a Chelsea legend; having won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League and Europa League, amongst other trophies, with them over his decade at the west London club.

However, for the 32-year-old, who has made 481 Blues appearances (sixth of all-time list), it may be the end of the road in his Stamford Bridge career, after being replaced by Belgian prospect Thibaut Courtois for much of this season.

Cech recently said: “I think they know me well enough at Chelsea to know that the situation is definitely not the way I would imagine.

”With the European Championships in 2016 and the national team in mind, there is no time for me to sit on the bench and not to play.

“I have not spoken to anybody at the club but if the situation will not start to improve for me then I will want to solve it.”

With that strong hint, Coral give five possible destinations for the Czech Republic international, if he does decide to move on.

PSG – 5/2
Cech first really made a name for himself in France, with Ligue 1 side Rennes. He was once awarded Man of the Match against the Parisians in his first season. It seems the French giants have not lost tabs on the keeper, as Coral make them the most likely destination.

PSG currently have Salvatore Sirigu as their number one, but the Italian is still playing second fiddle to ageing Azzurri stopper Gianluigi Buffon for the national side. A signing like Cech would be a real coup.

Monaco – 7/2
Fellow cash-rich French club Monaco could potentially offer Cech a more lucrative salary, given the tax-free laws in the principality, but perhaps not the same influx of trophies.

Croatian keeper Danijel Subasic, who only has eight international caps at the age of 29, is the only real threat in Cech’s way if he were to join the Red and Whites.

Liverpool – 5/1
The only Premier League club Coral fancy Cech to leave for is Liverpool, with Belgian number two Simon Mignolet still yet to fully convince Reds boss Brendan Rodgers. With the Czech star seemingly settled in England after 10 years living in the country, these odds seem very enticing.

Real Madrid – 14/1
Spain seems the most unlikely destination out of the Iberian nation, France and England, but the capital club wouldn’t be a bad shout as Madrid legend Iker Casillas continues to be linked away. Costa Rican keeper Keylor Navas is also on their books, but yet to be given the chance to stake his claim.

Barcelona – 20/1
Barca have only just added two new keepers to their ranks, following Victor Valdes’ departure. Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Claudio Bravo both joined in the summer, but have yet to set the league alight. With the Catalan club’s upcoming transfer ban, it is understandable why they are outsiders to snap up Cech.

As well as the main betting sports, football, tennis and cricket, he covers the likes of golf, F1 and darts too, the latter of which has become a particular favourite. Sam enjoys playing as much as writing about sports, but niggling injuries have limited his participation in recent years, so is happy to mainly watch the pros such as Manchester United, Yorkshire CCC, Raymond van Barneveld and even Gibraltar national football team instead.
