Nigel Farage favourite to win pre-election live TV debate

| 13.10.2014
CORAL ENHANCED ACCAS

Coral bookmakers today opened betting on the three proposed televised pre-election debates and make Nigel Farage the 5/4 favourite to win against David Cameron, Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg.

Under the plans proposed by the BBC, ITV, Sky News and Channel 4, David Cameron would take on Ed Miliband in a head to head debate on Sky News and Channel 4. Coral make David Cameron the 2/5 favourite to come out on top with Ed Miliband 7/4.

The BBC would then, if the proposals are accepted, televise a three way debate between Cameron, Miliband and Nick Clegg, and Coral make Cameron 4/6 favourite to win this debate, with Miliband next best at 6/4 and Clegg the outsider at 7/1.

The third proposed debate on ITV would be a four way battle with Nigel Farage joining Clegg, Miliband and Cameron. Coral make Nigel Farage the 5/4 favourite to come out on top in this debate with Cameron 6/4, Miliband 7/2 and Clegg 10/1.

“Over £50 million is expected to be bet on the 2015 General Election and the three live TV debates will undoubtedly prove lively betting events in their own right. Whilst we make David Cameron favourite to come out on top against Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg, we marginally favour Nick Farage in the betting when it comes to the proposed four way debate on ITV”, said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.
